This metadata field indicates how often you expect to be able to update your data on HDX. The frequency of update should take into consideration the time needed not only to collect but also to transform, clean, aggregate, and finally upload the data onto HDX.
It includes options such as Every day and Every year as well as the following:
- Live – for datasets where updates are continuous and ongoing
- As needed – for datasets with an unpredictable, widely varying update frequency
- Never – for datasets with data that will never be changed
We recommend you choose the nearest greatest frequent regular value instead of As needed or Never.
When your dataset is updated as per its frequency, the system will automatically display a symbol (a green leaf) showing it is up to date. The designated maintainer of a dataset will receive an email reminding them to update the data based on that set frequency.
